IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)

Pulsed Light Treatments

The FDA-approved Palomar StarLux System uses Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) beyond even the latest lasers to slow down the signs of aging; reduce birthmarks, unwanted hair, unsightly small vessels and other blemishes; and even smooth wrinkles.

Photofacials

Removes pigmented and vascular lesions to improve your skin texture and tone with quick and easy treatments. The face, neck, chest, arms, hands, legs etc. can all be treated.

The handpiece emits a light that breaks up the pigment in the lesions. Most people perceive the light as a gentle “snapping” sensation, which causes little to no discomfort.

Permanent Hair Removal

This works by emitting pulses of intense light into the hair follicles. The light is absorbed by the pigment in the follicles and converted to localized heat. The heat then loosens the hair and disables the cells responsible for growing new hair.

Any area, except around the eyes, can be treated, including the face, neck, underarms, legs, back, bikini line. You should achieve permanent hair reduction. The number of treatments you require depends on a number of factors:

  • The hair must be in a growth phase to be affected.
  • Hair from different areas of the body grows at different rates.
  • Darker-skinned patients may require more treatments, since the settings of the IPL have to be “turned down” so as not to damage the more highly pigmented skin.

Who is a candidate?

Anyone who wishes to remove unwanted hair from virtually any area of the body such as upper lip, chin, underarms, backs, bikinis and legs.
How does it differ from waxing and electrolysis?

Waxing and electrolysis are much slower and more painful, usually requiring messy preparations or the use of needles and can leave your skin with a rash-like reaction that can last days or weeks. With laser hair removal, the treatment is quick, less uncomfortable and often clears up the ingrown hairs and bumps often associated with waxing and electrolysis.
