Non-Ablative and Combination Ablative Laser Resurfacing

Dr. David Poole is excited to announce the arrival of new and improved laser resurfacing technology! This new micro-fractional technology is the perfect choice for the treatment of wrinkles, acne and surgical scars, melasma, unwanted textural irregularities, crow’s feet, and blotchy skin. It can also be used to treat trouble spots on any part of the body. In fact, it is the only FDA approved procedure for the treatment of stretch marks.

Why is this new technology better than other laser resurfacing options?

This innovative laser procedure allows your clinician to customize a treatment plan to fit your needs and your lifestyle. This technology can also be used on many skin types including very light and very dark skin. There are several treatment approaches that can be utilized to maximize your treatment outcome while minimizing your downtime.

How does Non-Ablative Laser Resurfacing work and why would I select that option?

If you want to achieve the benefits of laser resurfacing but need minimal to no downtime, the Palomar StarLux 1540 Fractional Non-Ablative Skin Resurfacing is for you. This treatment delivers laser energy deep into the skin to trigger a restorative natural healing process that creates healthy new tissue. As this treatment is not ablative, the surface of the skin remains intact thereby limiting downtime to approximately 48 hours. Typically three treatments spaced a month apart are needed to obtain maximum results.

How does Combination Ablative Laser Resurfacing work and why would I select that option?

If you are looking for a faster result there is another option. The combination of same day Palomar StarLux 1540 Fractional Non-Ablative and Palomar StarLux 2940 Fractional Ablative Skin Resurfacing can deliver remarkable results with one treatment. The treatment begins with the Fractional Non-Ablative treatment as described above immediately followed by the Fractional Ablative Laser Treatment. The ablative laser uses fractional erbium laser microbeams to deliver laser energy to the upper surface of the skin. As this approach is more aggressive the downtime associated with it is 5-7 days. After Combination Skin Resurfacing your body will launch a healing response that creates new, healthy tissue to replace the areas of affected tissue, resulting in healthier, younger-looking skin.
