Parisian Peel (Microdermabrasion)

What is Microdermabrasion?

A process which smoothes and freshens the skin and can reduce or even erase fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, scars or other superficial blemishes.

How does it work?

A precision handpiece is used to direct a stream of very fine crystals and mild suction exactly where needed on your skin. The gentle abrasive action of the crystals combines with the suction to remove the dead outer layer of your skin while bringing smoother, softer skin to the surface. The Parisian Peel process works equally well on all colors of skin.

What can be treated?

Sun-damaged skin, age spots, superficial pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged or oily pores, blackheads and whiteheads, acne scars.

How long does the treatment take?

The treatment takes about 30 minutes after which you can return immediately to your daily activities.

Will it hurt?

You will feel minimal discomfort.

How many treatments are required?

It usually takes 6 to 12 treatments scheduled every 7 to 10 days to get the best results.

BOTOX® Cosmetic

Plastic surgeon Dr. David V. Poole, M.D., offers BOTOX® Cosmetic and other skin care services. Serving Orlando, Altamonte Springs, Winter Park, Longwood, Lake Mary, Apopka, Maitland, Winter Springs, Sanford, Casselberry, Oviedo and the surrounding area.BOTOX® is the trade name of Botulinum Toxin Type A, a purified toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.

Where do you put the BOTOX®?

The frown line between the eyebrows is caused by the action of a muscle called the corrugator. You can feel this as a thickening just below the inside of your eyebrows, when you purposefully make yourself frown.

Injecting BOTOX® directly into this corrugator muscle stops your ability to draw your eyebrows together when you frown. Once the muscle is paralyzed, it cannot contract, and the frown line gradually fades away.

BOTOX® is also effective in the treatment of crow's feet, forehead wrinkles, and neck folds.

Will it last?

The actual treatment takes only a few minutes and the BOTOX® takes effect in three to four days. Gradually over three to five months the BOTOX® effect will fade, and the muscle action will return. When the frown line starts to reappear, a simple repeat treatment is all that is necessary to maintain the desired result.

How has BOTOX™ been tested?

BOTOX® has been used since 1980 for the treatment of strabismus (lazy eye), and blepharospasm (uncontrolled eye blinking). The use of BOTOX® for forehead wrinkles was pioneered in 1989 by Dr. Carruthers of Vancouver. A major study of this technique was completed in 1995, and a review published in The Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology.

Are there side effects?

The side effects of BOTOX® are related to the local injection of the solution. There will be a slight discomfort from the needle entering the skin, and a small chance of a bruise at the site of the injection. There have been no permanent side effects from the use of BOTOX®.

Endermologie

What is Endermologie?

A procedure to reduce the appearance of cellulite by smoothing out fatty deposits under the skin and enhance skin condition through improved circulation.

How are the treatments performed?

A non-surgical procedure applied through a course of weekly sessions, Endermologie is a type of deep massage, using a machine with rollers and suction to stimulate circulation and stretch the connective tissue under the skin.

How long does the treatment take?

Treatments last 35 minutes and are given once or twice a week.

Will it hurt?

You will feel minimal discomfort.

How many treatments will I need?

This varies from person to person, however, generally between 10 and 20 sessions are needed. Upon completion of the sessions required to achieve the desired results, it is recommended that maintenance sessions be performed about once a month. Cellulite reduction should be viewed in the same light as maintaining hair or nails. To maintain the results, routine maintenance is necessary.

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)

Pulsed Light Treatments

The FDA-approved Palomar StarLux System uses Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) beyond even the latest lasers to slow down the signs of aging; reduce birthmarks, unwanted hair, unsightly small vessels and other blemishes; and even smooth wrinkles.

Photofacials

Removes pigmented and vascular lesions to improve your skin texture and tone with quick and easy treatments. The face, neck, chest, arms, hands, legs etc. can all be treated.

The handpiece emits a light that breaks up the pigment in the lesions. Most people perceive the light as a gentle "snapping" sensation, which causes little to no discomfort.

Permanent Hair Removal

This works by emitting pulses of intense light into the hair follicles. The light is absorbed by the pigment in the follicles and converted to localized heat. The heat then loosens the hair and disables the cells responsible for growing new hair.

Any area, except around the eyes, can be treated, including the face, neck, underarms, legs, back, bikini line. You should achieve permanent hair reduction. The number of treatments you require depends on a number of factors:

  • The hair must be in a growth phase to be affected.
  • Hair from different areas of the body grows at different rates.
  • Darker-skinned patients may require more treatments, since the settings of the IPL have to be "turned down" so as not to damage the more highly pigmented skin.
Who is a candidate?

Anyone who wishes to remove unwanted hair from virtually any area of the body such as upper lip, chin, underarms, backs, bikinis and legs.

How does it differ from waxing and electrolysis?

Waxing and electrolysis are much slower and more painful, usually requiring messy preparations or the use of needles and can leave your skin with a rash-like reaction that can last days or weeks. With laser hair removal, the treatment is quick, less uncomfortable and often clears up the ingrown hairs and bumps often associated with waxing and electrolysis.

Restylane

What is Restylane?

Restylane is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds.

What is Restylane made of?

It is a clear gel composed of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that is found throughout your body. This synthetic acid is not animal based, and carries no risk of allergic reaction or disease transmission.

How long does Restylane last? How often are treatments required?

Studies have shown that the average treatment results last six months or longer. That's twice as long as collagen. Restylane treatments are typically scheduled twice a year. Evidence suggests that touch-up treatments before the product has fully dissipated will enhance its effect.

Do the injections hurt?

Restylane is injected directly into the skin in tiny amounts using an ultrafine needle, resulting in minimal discomfort. The procedure is simple and convenient, and results are practically instantaneous. To optimize your comfort during the short procedure, your physician may apply an anesthetic to the area being treated.
