You may wish to consider breast augmentation if you desire larger breasts, have a moderate degree of breast sagging and smaller breasts, or have one breast that is noticeably smaller than the other. Many women choose breast augmentation to restore breast fullness after childbirth.
A small incision is made under the breast or around the nipple complex and a saline implant is inserted under the breast tissue or under the breast tissue and the underlying muscle.
You will be sent home in post-surgical garment and sutures, if non-absorbable sutures are used, are usually removed in seven to ten days. Light activities may be resumed as tolerated and moderate aerobic activities may be started in about three weeks. Generally it's a good idea to allow about five days off work. You may wish to consider mastopexy (breast lift) if your breasts are saggy in addition to being small.

A breast lift is intended to give you en elevated, more youthful breast contour and nipple-areolar complexes (pigmented areas around the nipples) of the desired size and at the correct height.
The design of the incisions can vary but usually include incisions around the nipple-areolar complex and in the crease under the breast in an "up-side-down T shape". The nipple-areolar complex is repositioned higher, the excess skin is removed, and the breast is reshaped in a pleasing contour and in a more normal position. In some cases Dr. Poole may recommend insertion of an implant.
You will go home in a post-surgical compression garment with light dressings over the incision lines. The garment is worn as a "dressing" for two to three weeks. Sutures, if non-absorbable sutures are used, are generally removed within two to three weeks. Light activities may be started in seven to ten days.

Breast reduction is for women with large, heavy breasts that may interfere with normal daily activities or exercise or for whom their breast size decreases their sense of attractiveness and self-confidence.
Incisions are made around the pigmented area (the nipple-areolar complex) and extend vertically below the nipple and in the fold under the breast. The nipple-areolar complex is moved upward to the desired location and excess breast tissue, fat and skin are removed. The incisions are covered with light dressings and the breasts are placed in a post-surgical garment.
Light activities can be resumed in ten days to two weeks. Scars will generally fade in six months to a year. This surgery will probably reduce, and possibly eliminate, the ability to breastfeed. Some women choose to have liposuction of the axillary area (underarm area) in conjunction with a breast reduction.

Some men have excessively large breasts, or they have excess sagging tissue in their chest area after losing a large amount of weight. A male breast reduction (gynecomastia reduction) will result in a flatter chest with a more masculine, male contour. Excess breast tissue or fat can be removed with liposuction, excision, or a combination of both. Excess skin can be excised.
You are sent home in a compression vest or chest wrapping which is usually worn for a week or two after surgery to help reduce swelling. Sutures, if non-absorbable sutures are used, are usually removed seven to ten days following surgery. Liposuction of excess fat in the axilla (armpit area) or contouring and flattening of your abdomen with liposuction and/or a tummy tuck may enhance the result.
